Specific Projects

Accents of the British Isles
The ABI and ABI-2 speech corpora contain nearly 200 hours of recordings of speech from 600 individuals representing 30 different accents of the British Isles. The corpora include 20 hours of telephone conversational speech. This data presents a unique opportunity for a number of PhD projects in areas such as investigation of the implications of accent for automatic speech recognition and synthesis, automatic identification of accent or accent profile, mathematical modelling and exploration of accent data, and mining of accent data.

Funding: Funding to cover EPSRC-level maintenance and home fees may be available for these projects
