This is a method of achieving very high compression ratios in MPEG video compression standards by identifying blocks of data that occur in a series of consecutive images, and then transmitting data only for the first block and it’s path of movement. This allows the position of the block in subsequent images to be determined and therefore the image to be reconstructed.
